Carmen Neer

d. February 6, 2008

Carmen was born near Osceola, Iowa to Charles and Cora Kimmel McVey. She passed away on Feb. 6, 2008 of a massive heart attack at the Lucas County Health Center in Chariton. She was married to Dean Neer on June 1, 1957 at the Lacona Methodist Church, they were blessed with 7 children. She enjoyed sewing: making clothes, quilts, or anything someone could wear or use. Carmen was a very loving and compassionate person, who loved everyone the same. She was full of faith and a firm believer in God. She enjoyed her family and everything else revolved around the love for her children and family. Carmen was close to her entire family and always enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sisters. They had sleepovers and played and sang together in music jams (music was one of her great joys), and went shopping together. She enjoyed Sunday dinners with everyone together; she loved to cook and bake, and made the best pies. Carmen had made all of her children's wedding cakes as well as many others. The kids liked to eat the mistakes. She could garage sale with the best and even found a golf cart for her to give rides to the grandchildren at the farm. She enjoyed the outdoors and taking care of the farm. Carmen was a true blessing from God to Dean and her family. Carmen is survived by her husband Dean; children: Kevin (Pam) Neer of Osceola, Martin Neer of Lucas, James (Michelle) Neer of Des Moines, Gary (Connie) Neer of New Virginia, Carol (Bill) Tompkins of Jerico Springs, MO, Jeremy (Debbie) Neer of Newton, and Jason (Amy) Neer of Pella; 31 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and siblings: Eldon McVey, Charles (Dorothy) McVey, Darlene Harlen, Norma Burr, Darrell McVey, Phyllis (Wayne) Welcher, Robert (Claire) McVey, Gary (Ilene) McVey, Max (Pam) McVey, and Truman (Lori) McVey.
