Carl E. "Kip" Roberts

Services for Carl Roberts, 76, of Melcher-Dallas will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the New Hope United Methodist Church in Melcher-Dallas. Interment will be in the Dallas Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 28th, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Memorials may be directed to New Hope United Methodist Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com. Carl Edward Roberts was born on June 18, 1930 the son of Herman Harland and Maudie Marie (Mullins) Roberts in Dallas, Iowa. He graduated from Dallas High School in 1947. On June 19, 1948 in Pleasantville, he was married to Mina L. Harrington. In 1985 he retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber in which he was a member of the Local 310. Kip was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church. Carl enjoyed coon hunting and riding mules. He loved to watch his grandchildren play in their sporting activities. Kip did not know a stranger he would visit with anyone. He had great pride in his home and yard. Carl passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Carl is survived by his wife Mina; 4 daughters: Karla (Larry) Wadle of Knoxville, Kathy (Paul) Tickle, Kristi (Jim) Rogers, and Kayla (Brian) Thornton all of Melcher-Dallas; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brothers: Don of Temple, TX, Joe of Mission Viejo, CA, Richard of Newton, and Daryl of Independence, IA. Carl is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Katherine Pond and Margaret Kauzlarich; and two brothers, Vern and Leland.
