Brenda attended Pella schools before transferring to Melcher-Dallas, where she graduated in 1978. Brenda was united in marriage to Dan Brewer on April 11th, 1980 at the Methodist Church in Melcher. The couple were blessed with three children: Erica, AJ, and Lee. Brenda had a unique gift of sacrificial love and giving; she always did everything in her power to make someone she knew feel accepted and loved. This was evident throughout every aspect of her life. She cared for many people at the VA Hospital in Knoxville, the Lucas County Hospital Nursing Home, and at Family Chiropractic Center in Chariton. She volunteered at Westridge Nursing Home by painting the residents' fingernails with personalized designs for all. She wanted them to feel pampered and special. Brenda provided respite care for Mosaic where she deeply cared about each person and found ways to meet the special needs of each individual she worked with. She was always eager to help everyone; especially those individuals who needed a little extra. When Brenda started at the Chariton Community School District in 1997, the students and staff quickly became an extension of her family. Brenda had the unique ability to look at the individual, and find the things that would be special to them. Once she knew what made the person happy, she would always try to surprise them. Whether that was in her gift of goodie baking, fingernail-art, drawing, painting, craft-work, flower arranging, jewelry making, seamstressing, or her MacGyver-ing abilities; Brenda took each and every opportunity to use the gifts God blessed her with to be a blessing to others. Everyone who knew Brenda will remember how fiercely she loved without pause. Erica, AJ, and Lee witnessed this true testament of love every day at home. Brenda would scrimp and save as much as she could each year to make birthdays, holidays, and special events as memorable and special as possible. She had a special birthday meal unique to each of them that she would tirelessly make from scratch with the greatest love. They would watch and sometimes help her stay up all night to make cookies, cupcakes, whoopie pies, apple-pie turnovers, decorated wedding or birthday cakes, Cinnabon cinnamon rolls, or whatever food, project, or craft the need called for at the time. Brenda truly found her joy in delivering joy to others. She did it simply for the joy it would bring. As for her precious grandkids, she always went above and beyond. Each year, at ‘Grandma Summer Camp', the grandkids would bake and craft with grandma. This brought each of them so much joy and laughter. She was instilling in them the value of giving, hard work, and creating with their imaginations. She would make special themed cakes for each of them, such as: Tangled/Rapunzel, Hello Kitty, Minecraft, an Alpaca, and a dinosaur cake. Brenda passed away Saturday morning, August 22, 2020. She will be dearly missed by her beloved husband, Dan Brewer; children: Erica (Justin) Schieffer, AJ (Pattie) Brewer, and Lee (Jonie) Brewer; grandchildren: Arianna (10), Nadia (8), Brady (7), Felicity (5), and Will (3); siblings: Lori Clark, Roy (Joyce) Husted, and Becky (Jim) DeJoode; mother-in-law, Wanda Brewer; siblings-in-law: Fred (Sherry) Brewer, Debbie (Rodney) Evitt, Denise (Steve) Lazear, and Joe (Rosana) Brewer; and several nieces, nephews, and greats that loved her dearly. Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Nola Husted; and her father-in-law, Clifton Brewer, Jr. Visitation
