Borghild Blanche Seuferer

Services for B. Blanche Seuferer, 93, will be Friday, May 1, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lacona. Family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Thursday at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona with a Rosary Service at 7:30 PM. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Lacona. Memorials are requested to the Circle of Life Hospice in Chariton or the Lacona Public Library. Borghild Blanche Sande was born January 16, 1916 to Ben and Elida Einarsen Sande in Dakota City, Iowa. She graduated from Dakota City High School and was working for a family when she met a young man from Lacona on a harvest crew in northern Iowa. Blanche was married to Giles Seuferer in Ft. Dodge, Iowa November 18, 1935. They were blessed with 10 children and made their home near Lacona where they farmed together. She worked for the Dry Cleaners in Indianola and Chariton for several years. Blanche enjoyed sewing, quilting, making rugs, and doing all kinds of hand work. All her children and grandchildren received quilts that she had made. She loved being outdoors hunting mushrooms and gardening, and everyone remembers the strawberries. Blanche enjoyed music and playing the harmonica. Blanche loved her family and will always be remembered as a great mother and grandmother. Blanche was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lacona. Blanche was preceded in death by her husband Giles; daughter Elaine Davis; and siblings: Anna Meyers, Einar Sande, Margit Sande, infant twins, Judith Erickson, Gunvald Sande, and Mary Ellinger. She is survived by her children: Bob (June) of Lucas, Mervin (Pat) of Milo, Jerry (Kay) of Chariton, Dean (Vicki) of Lincoln, NE, Roger (Ann) of Lacona, Marilyn (Frank) Smith of Indianola, Sharon Seuferer of Lacona, Jeanette (Steve) Jetter of Indianola, and Rose Wood of Indianola. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren; a sister Elsie (Forest) Prohaska of Boise, ID, and many other relatives and friends.
