Memorial services will be held for Bertha on Monday, July 9, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Dallas Christian Church. The family will greet friends on Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Dallas Christian Church or Melcher-Dallas Rescue Unit. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com Bertha Stewart Ireland was born April 2, 1918 at their home in Dallas, Iowa. She was the daughter of Turner and Sylvia Stewart. Bertha lived in Dallas all her life and was baptized at a young age at the Dallas Christian Church where she was a member. She graduated from Dallas High School. She was involved in many community projects in her life. On Merger Days in 1998 she was presented a community volunteer award by mayor Robert Pack and Leonard Dhabalt, Lions Club Member. She enjoyed people. Bertha was united in marriage to Carl Ireland this marriage was blessed with a son, Larry. Bertha was a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt, she shared lots of love to her many friends and relatives. Bertha loved working outside and taking care of her flowers. Bertha was called to her heavenly home on July 5, 2007 at the age of 89 years. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Carl; granddaughter, Sabra; honorary son James Wright, honorary granddaughter Connie; three brothers; and one sister. She is survived by her son, Larry (Thayne) Ireland of Ankeny; grandchildren: Chad (Ashley) Ireland of Ankeny, Brooke Ireland of Ankeny, Janice Wright of Des Moines and Gene Wright of Altoona; and great grandson, Carter Ireland. She was an honorary grandmother to Sandy Wilson of Ankeny, Joy Smith of Pershing, Iowa, Scott Hoch of Des Moines, Terry Hoch of Knoxville, Janon Johnson of Melcher-Dallas, Shane Wright of Altoona and their families. She cherished and loved her family and friends.
