Alice Callahan

Alice was born July 24, 1925 in Dallas, Iowa. She grew up in Melcher and went to Melcher Schools. Alice was married to Robert Callahan and they were blessed with five children: Robert, Rick, Ron, Tom, and Sylvia. She worked at the AMF Factory in Des Moines, but her most important calling was raising her children. Alice was a devoted wife and very special mother and grandmother. She was very giving, caring, hardworking, and could do anything she set her mind to. Her family remembers the Sunday dinners with everyone together and the special meals she made. Alice enjoyed working; she always had to keep busy in the yard, garden, sewing, or reading. After Robert and Alice retired they enjoyed spending several winters in Texas and also traveling all over. She was preceded in death by her parents: Jane Ann and Glenn Crooks; and siblings: Mary Ellen Luksetich and Robert Seddon. Alice passed away May 23, 2008 in Carlisle. She is survived by her children: Robert (Kathy) Callahan of Houston, TX, Rick Callahan of San Jose, CA, Ron Callahan of Melcher-Dallas, Tom (Bertha) Callahan of Carlisle, and Sylvia (Jeff) Gieske of Altoona; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
