Randall William McClaflin was born July 24, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Ida Mae Patterson McClaflin. He was raised in Wayne County and graduated from Wayne High School in 1981. He attended the Diesel Maintenance Program at DMACC in Ankeny, IA. Randy was married to Carol Jean Hughes in Corydon on August 3, 1985. They were blessed with four children: Amber, Adam, Blake, and Shelby. He was the lead mechanic for Ruan Trucking where he had worked for over 30 years. Randy loved the challenge of fixing things. He enjoyed off-roading and rock climbing with his custom built machine. Everyone will remember Randy as living life to the fullest. His family and friends know how he was joyful and a little ornery. He loved to drive around the countryside and tell stories of who lived where, giving a piece of history to his children. Randy loved to tease his grandchildren by saying their names backwards, or jumbling up words in a sentence, or taking an hour to get home because he kept turning the wrong direction. His family will also remember his singing random songs and hymns in the car and at home. Randy had a strong and deep Faith. He accepted Jesus for his Savior when he was 16. Repented his sins and rededicated his life to Christ at the age of 38. Randy rejoiced in many verses in the Bible, but held on to Malachi 3:6: For I am the Lord, I change not. Randy always knew where he stood with God. He was very active in his church and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother who loved all and will be greatly missed in this life. Randy passed away at home on April 2, 2018 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. His father, William McClaflin, preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother, Ida Mae (Bill) Carpenter; his wife, Carol Jean McClaflin; children: Amber (Michael) Parker of Fayetteville, AR, Adam (Stephanie) Moore of Union Grove, WI, Blake (Mallory) McClaflin of Knoxville, IA, and Shelby (Thomas) Butorac of Dubuque, IA; two grandchildren: Jenna and Travis Moore; and siblings: Susan (Doug) Hicks of Walnut Grove, MO, and Bruce (Paula) McClaflin of Osceola, IA. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Cemetery Details Corydon Cemetery S. West St. & Co Park Road
